sekitou: saying from espn tshirt (espnyes)
so over at espn.com today's poll question asks, "How many brackets will you be filling out?". this refers to the upcoming NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, and the March Madness and bracket mania that accompanies it.

I always fill out 2 brackets (I may enter those 2 brackets into many different contests, but there's always 2 different brackets). one is my 'heart' bracket, which means UofL goes all the way to the final game and wins the championship -- and if possible they play UK along the way. the other is my 'head' bracket, which means I put down my realistic picks of who I really think will win each game based on the umpteen billion games I've watched all year.

so I answered the poll with "2".

whenever you answer a poll on espn.com, a window will pop up with a map, telling you how people voted and where. the map is color-coded based on the current majority pick for that state (and the world). and if you hover your mouse over a state, it will tell you the current percentage breakdown of the answers for that state.

I answered "2", and the new window opened to show this map.

really? wth?! Kentucky and Delaware are the ONLY places in the WORLD where the majority are filling out more than one bracket? I knew we were a conflicted state with UofL and UK, but wow! I would have thought some other states like North Carolina, Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois would have the majority filling out multiple brackets. but I guess not.

btw, the current percentage breakdown for KY is:
One -- 26%
Two -- 29%
Three -- 17%
Four -- 8%
Five Or More -- 21%

and we win!!

OH EM GEE!

(the only thing that kept me from completely freaking out for the last 2+hours was crocheting during the game.)

congrats to Kyle Kuric who tore it up during the 2nd half, after senior, Jerry Smith, was injured at the end of the 1st!

listening to postgame, 'goodbye-to-Freedom-Hall' radio show now.

love for the Cards!!!!

today my UofL Cardinal men's basketball team will play their last ever game in historic Freedom Hall. they will be moving to a new downtown arena next year, after 54 years in Freedom Hall.

add to that, we need a win to help cement our spot in the NCAA tournament.

and it's senior night.

and we will be playing #1 ranked Syracuse. Syracuse, who we actually beat a couple weeks ago at their place in a big upset, so Syracuse is looking for revenge.

can this game get any bigger? it's like a hollywood sports movie, only true.

the pressure has got to be immense. and it's going to be awesome, regardless of the outcome.

they just started the senior day stuff. it's a nationally telecast game, so no local coverage on tv (bah!). but I'm listening to the senior day coverage on the radio. unfortunately can't see the video they're playing in the stadium, but at least radio is describing it.

off to watch the game.

Binkley's sick, so I'm trying to remember other things before I forget them completely.

like there are a few owners from last year's Power Rangers Fantasy Football League I haven't heard from yet. whether they want to return, or when they are available to draft. the season starts in 9 days.

also, if anyone would like to join the league, we have openings. it's a no pressure, all fun league. we'll teach you how to play.

I'm reposting this because I know it might have gotten lost in my crochet spam.

a call for team owners! the Power Rangers Fantasy Football League wants you!

hello everyone!

it’s nearly that time of year again! football season! isn’t it wonderful? (actually I’m more than a little late this year setting this up, but I’ve been psychotically busy. and technically this Sunday is the biggest fantasy football drafting day of the year, so it’s not too bad. but I digress…)

last year I started a Power Rangers Fantasy Football League, and much fun was had. I’ve had requests to reform our league this year (many thanks to [personal profile] tcwildstar for reminding me to post this).

so here’s the call to all members, new and old. if you were in the league last year and would like to return, please reply! if you weren’t in the league and would like to join, please reply with an email addy I can send the invite too. (we didn’t have a full league last year, and I’d really like to fill it this year!) it’s okay if you’re new to this and know nothing about fantasy football. we can teach you. this is an all-for-fun, no-pressure league.

also please let me know when is good for you (days of the week & time) for us to schedule the draft! the season starts on Thursday, 09/10/09, so we have a week or so left.

I’ve also had inquiries about making this a keeper league. that would mean you would designate players on your team that you would like to have next year. so that means this league would be a reoccurring thing, and people would be coming back. if anyone is interested in this, please comment on that as well.

thanks in advance! yay football! :)

also, Randy Johnson was supposed to try to win his 300th game tonight. this is THE big number for pitchers. 300 wins is like, it. there have only be 23 pitchers ever to reach that mark. and only 5 lefthanders. The Big Unit will be the 24th pitcher, and the 6th righthander. he currently sits at 299, and was to pitch against the Nationals tonight.

Randy is my favorite pitcher. I've watched him for ages. I even bought his bobblehead in, of all places, the ESPNZone in Denver when I was there with [personal profile] starandrea. it's sitting next to my tv in the living room right now.

I said "supposed to" pitch because the Giants vs Nationals game is currently in a rain delay. they swear that he'll get a chance tonight 'cause the game will go on. but it's getting awfully late for them to start this game.

go Big Unit! get 300! :)

I'm feeling rather annoyed today. I know part of the reason why, but I didn't think it would cause this general bad mood I'm in.

randomness…

--was watching the NBA playoffs last night, but I fell asleep. I woke up at 12:30 ‘cause someone was screaming "HELP ME" at the top of their lungs. the game had been on TNT, so the game was over and "Law & Order" was starting. so yeah, it was the tv. all I know is I woke up in a sleep fog wondering if my crummy neighbors were killing each other.

--they’ve banned streaming media at work. so no more ESPNRadio. it’s day#2 of no Mike&Mike In The Morning, no Tirico & Van Pelt. that hurts. I really miss listenting Scott Van Pelt in the afternoons. I usually only got to hear half his show anyway ‘cause of my work schedule. I guess I’m going to have to start downloading it as a podcast. I tried to download yesterday’s show at home this morning so I could bring it to work. but it would only play, not save. to save I think I had to go to itunes. I don’t use itunes. hell, I don’t have an ipod. I have a generic mp3 I bought at Big Lots for less than $20. it works, and that’s all I need. and I don’t wanna pay itunes for a daily radio show I could possibly listen to for free. so either way, I’m without my ESPNRadio and all streaming media at work.

--pringles should be bought 7 cans at a time. *munch*

--eta: dreamwidth really doesn't work on my browser at work. ack. the screen is all screwed up. I can't enter moods or tags 'cause the options aren't there. I was only able to change my icon 'cause I refreshed until a random blank dropdown box appeared which just happened to be for icons. I can only enter tags by editing tags after I post. (and now looking back at past replies, all icons have reverted to my default icon. wtf?)
