adventures of a crazy cat lady

so I've wanted a Wii for a while. I actually own Wii games even that I keep at my brother's house just so I can play them on his Wii. Yeah, I kinda really want one. But when my beloved antique laptop started to bite the big one, getting a laptop was more important, especially with NaNo approaching. so I bought the laptop and promised myself I wouldn't buy the Wii until the laptop was paid off. and with the convenient split-it function on my credit card, it will be paid off in January. this worked out great because my brother said that the price was supposed to drop sometime after the first of the year.

but I'm about to break that promise to myself.

my brother called me last night to tell me about the Wii package that's being offered right now.

One Wii Remote controller with a Wii Remote Jacket, one Nunchuk controller, Super Mario Bros Wii, Wii Sports (a collection of five games: baseball, tennis, golf, bowling and boxing), sensor bar, power cord, standard composite cable, stand.

other than the Super Mario Bros, it sounds like a pretty normal package. in fact, the regular package might just be better to some people because it includes Sports Resort instead of just Sports. here's the tipping factor for me.

it's RED.

yeah, I know. the usual Wii is white, and there have been special black ones. but this RED Wii is a special limited edition for the 25th anniversary of release of the original Super Mario Bros game. and I really want a RED Wii. I can then get a black controller and it will be even more awesome. it's a good thing I worked 51hours last week, and since I'm going in at 5am this morning, it looks like this week will be packed with overtime too.

and so, an update on the

Power Rangers Fantasy Football League!

we have 3 new members! and I just want to say, y'all rock! invites were accepted and teams setup wicked fast! y'all don't know how great that is. I'm league manager for 3 leagues (this one and 2 for work friends), and it's like pulling teeth to get people to accept invites/setup their teams. I have a draft today at 1:30, and one of the guys *still* hasn't accepted! if he doesn't accept in the next hour, the website won't run the draft. but I digress...

here's the business we need to get done for our league:
1) we have 3 new members, but we're potentially losing 2. if we don't hear from poso13 before the draft, we'll have to drop him. it would be best if we had an even # of teams, because then there won't be any bye weeks. I know for me, bye weeks through me off because I don't check the team that week, then forget to check it the next week when we're actually playing. so if you know anyone else who would like to play, spread the word. we could use at least one more person. I'm going to send a lj message to poso13, but I know he's busy, so he might not come back.

2) set keepers. nikkisilver, you're the only one who hasn't set keepers. if you don't know how, I can set them for you. just let me know who you want to keep. right now the deadline to pick keepers is Wednesday, 09/08/10 at 5:00pm. but that could change based on #3.

3) the draft! we need to hold the draft. anyone who doesn't know how to do it, don't worry. there's a chatwindow in the draftroom. get there early, and we'll talk you through everything. I'll try to find the emails I sent out a few years ago explaining exactly what you need to do and who you need to draft. if you need help, let me know and I'll do whatever I can to help you. :)

as for the draft, we need to set a date and time. everyone please reply to this post with when you're available, and we'll work out a day/time. I'm off tomorrow, but I normally work 6/7-3 on weekdays. this coming week I will have some after-work things to take care of, but I'm not sure what days they'll happen on (they're work-related, and they never gave us the exact date). anyway, let me know when is good for y'all, and we'll work it out. the season starts on Thursday, 09/09/10, so we have to have the draft before that. it can be that day, but we have to have it before the game starts at 8:30pm.

ETA: Team Dino Thunderers, I see that there are players on your team, but I'm not sure why/how. we choose our players through the draft. so I'm going to reset your team to zero players. let me know if you have any questions. :)

hello!

it's nearly that time of year again. football season! last night was the Hall Of Fame Game (which is the 1st pre-season game of the year). I've wanted to make a post about fantasy football for a while now, but I told myself I should really hold off until at least closer to the season. and now it's closer. lol

so this is a post about:

the Power Rangers Fantasy Football League!

if you're a current member, do you want to return for another season? is there anyone new who would like to join? we already have one new member, so it would be great if we could get at least 3 more. that would give us a full league. (we can take more than 3 too. but if we can get an even number of teams total, that would be best for the schedule.)

for those returning this year:
the league is now setup for keepers! this means you get to choose 2 players from your team last year to keep this year. of course our draft is usually pretty easy-going so you will most likely get who you want anyway. but if there's a couple of players you'd like to make sure you get, go ahead and log-in to the league and mark your 2 keepers (if you need instructions on this, I can walk you through it). right now the deadline to mark keepers is Wednesday, Sept. 8th. the deadline is a nice long time from now, 'cause I know what a procrastinator I am.

for those who would like to join:
send me an email address, and I'll send you an invite. you do NOT need to know much (if anything) about football to play. those of us who do know football can walk you through most of what you need to know. the basic rules of our league are:
1) it's awesome if your team name has some sort of Power Ranger meaning/reference
2) have fun

remember, there's like a month of time, so no rush. I just wanted to go ahead and post about choosing keepers and asking about new members before I forgot. :)

we're nearly there. at long last and against all odds, "Futurama" is returning as a regular series! just 42 minutes away! woohoo!

--the tv show, "Leverage". 2 weeks ago the NASCAR race ran long, so TNT was unable to air the movie they had planned in the time remaining. so they aired the 1st ep of "Leverage" instead. I was too busy cleaning to be bothered to get up and go to the other room (where my satellite receiver is) to change the channel so I saw it. and loved it.

can someone tell me if the rest of the series is as good as that 1st ep was? I’ve been seeing the commercials for months that the 3rd season is about to start. I’m wondering now if it would be worth it to try to catch up and start watching it.

today my UofL Cardinal men's basketball team will play their last ever game in historic Freedom Hall. they will be moving to a new downtown arena next year, after 54 years in Freedom Hall.

add to that, we need a win to help cement our spot in the NCAA tournament.

and it's senior night.

and we will be playing #1 ranked Syracuse. Syracuse, who we actually beat a couple weeks ago at their place in a big upset, so Syracuse is looking for revenge.

can this game get any bigger? it's like a hollywood sports movie, only true.

the pressure has got to be immense. and it's going to be awesome, regardless of the outcome.

they just started the senior day stuff. it's a nationally telecast game, so no local coverage on tv (bah!). but I'm listening to the senior day coverage on the radio. unfortunately can't see the video they're playing in the stadium, but at least radio is describing it.

off to watch the game.
